Michael Brooks, a USCG 100-ton licensed captain began his marine related experience in the recreational diving industry. As early as the 1970’s Mike was a boating and diving enthusiast in South Florida where he grew up. In 1984 he became a PADI and NAUI diving instructor with the family business and later a commercially licensed dive boat captain. A degree in Marketing/Advertising was achieved in 1994 at Georgia State University. In the years that followed Mike’s boating experience grew and he became Head Captain for a variety of dive operations in the Florida Keys. In 2001 Mike spent a season as Bridge Officer in the waters of Southeast Alaska. From these experiences, a good background for surveying developed through vessel management, voyage and maintenance reports, initiating safety programs and managing refits for inspected passenger vessels. Having completed an apprenticeship at All Marine Surveyors, Inc. Mike went on to graduate top in his class at Chapmans School of Survey in Stuart, Florida. He is also ABYC standards accredited and an accredited member of SAMS (Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors, Inc.)
